Travelled to Tucson 4/1 and 4/2

Arrived in Tucson. Steak dinner with bok choy and baked after going to the airforce base commissary.
We are camping in at the Davis Monthan Airforce base. Our first military Famcamp. Its amazing, a whole city inside the city. A benefit Jerry is awarded from his past service.
Yesterday was travel and errand day... no pics.
Started the day with a great breakfast from last nights abundance. Steak, potato and aggs with salsa cheese and chips, micro greens ans avacado. Yum.
Drove Saguaro National Park East in the am.
Followed this 1954 Jaguar xk120 to the park. I felt like I was following Rock Hudson.
Found my first pincushion mamilaria blooming today. So excited!
Hiked up to a mini falls.
Went to downtown Tucson to one of my old favorite restaurants, El Charro. So yummy!!

Lets just say WOW!! We were so struck by the massivness of this cave. Pictures dont do it justice. The natural enrty in! A 750 foot clumb down in to the "main room" Cave swallows were flying in and out by the 100's! took elevator up. Lol, measured feet instead of floors.

Banana Agave  Couldn't get tickets to Caverns until tomorrow so went on more wildflower hunts today! Found lots of completely new ones. we then went to a cool natural spring that used to provide all the water to Carlsbad!! there were lots of bass! It was crazy! Finished the day with some Mexican if course. Lol.

Leaving Big Bend heading towards Hot Springs NP

So sad to say goodbye to my desert plant friends! They hold duch a special place in my heart for some reason. I think it's because they are like the underdogs. They flourish beyond our belief! Good bye Big Bend! I hope to see you again!! One of our last Mexican Lunches and we struck gold!! Tiny hole in the wall. So good and fresh . They make their own tortillas. So tender and amazing.  Then through the Texas oil fields. Dust everywhere! And you could actually smell petroleum in the air. Kind of surreal after the beautiful desert. Finished the day with one more Mexican meal! Omg sauted gulf shrimp SO SO SO GOOD!! A perfect end to our desert extravaganza! Tomorrow off to Hot Springs NP
